FAQ Overview

Everything players ask first

What is Peptype?

Peptype is a browser-native GameFi project built around a browser extension. According to the official documentation, users create a Typer, generate energy through typing, complete raids, and earn loot boxes with customization items.

The same documentation describes Peptype as the game hiding in plain sight inside your browser, where normal online activity turns into progression and rewards.

How do I start using Peptype?

To get started, install the browser extension from the official Peptype website. The documentation states that users should click Play Peptype or Install Extension, which redirects to the Chrome Web Store for installation.

After installation, the Peptype icon appears in the browser toolbar. On first launch, a short onboarding flow creates a Peptype profile and initializes the in-extension wallet.

Which login methods does Peptype support?

The first launch flow supports three login methods:

  • Login with X
  • Login with Google
  • Login with MetaMask

Each option is used to authenticate the user and start profile creation.

Does Peptype require email verification?

Yes. The documentation states that users must enter an email address, receive a one-time verification code, and enter that code inside the extension.

This step is required to secure the account and support recovery mechanisms.

Does Peptype create a wallet?

Yes. After verification, the extension automatically creates an in-extension wallet. The documentation states that a new private key is generated locally, encrypted, and stored on the client side, and the wallet address is then shown for funding.

The wallet must be funded to interact with on-chain mechanics.

Which browsers support Peptype?

Peptype is designed for modern Chromium-based browsers. The documentation lists:

  • Google Chrome

The extension is distributed through the Chrome Web Store and can be installed on supported browsers that allow Chrome extensions.

Gameplay Basics

Typer, Energy, and progression

What is a Typer?

A Typer is the core in-game character in Peptype. The documentation states that the Typer is the player's in-game NFT character and the center of progression inside the ecosystem.

Minting a Typer is the next step after onboarding and is the real starting point for gameplay.

What is Energy in Peptype?

Energy is a core in-game resource used for progression and active gameplay. The documentation states that energy can be spent only on:

  • upgrading and leveling up a Typer
  • sending a Typer on raids

Energy is generated through typing activity while the browser extension is active and the user has an active Typer.

How is Energy generated?

Energy is regenerated through typing activity while the extension is active. The documentation states that the number of typed characters required to generate 1 unit of energy depends on the currently active Typer.

Each Typer can generate only a limited amount of energy per day, and once the daily limit is reached, the user must wait until the next day to generate more.

What are Raids?

Raids are time-based activities where a Typer is sent to explore locations and earn rewards. The documentation states that raids require energy and unlock progressively as a Typer levels up.

Raid outcomes may include:

  • points
  • loot boxes
  • tokens

Not all reward types are guaranteed for every raid.

How do raid levels work?

Raid access depends on Typer level and available energy. The documentation states:

  • Level 1 to Level 4: access only to Raid Level 1
  • Raid Level 2: minimum Level 5
  • Raid Level 3: minimum Level 10
  • Raid Level 4: minimum Level 15
  • Raid Level 5: minimum Level 20
  • Raid Level 6: minimum Level 25
  • Raid Level 7: minimum Level 30

Each higher raid level requires more energy and takes longer to complete.

What are Tasks and Quests?

Tasks are the main system that guides users through Peptype and provides regular progression. The documentation states that tasks reward both Points and XP:

  • Points are used for progression and leaderboard-style metrics
  • XP is used to unlock loot boxes tied to task categories

What types of tasks are available?

Peptype splits tasks into three categories:

  • Start Quests
  • Daily Tasks
  • Social Tasks

Start Quests support onboarding, Daily Tasks refresh every day, and Social Tasks are one-time tasks tied to community actions.

How do task rewards work?

Task progress can be completed in the background, but rewards are not granted automatically. The documentation states that once a task is completed, it becomes claimable, and rewards are granted only after pressing Claim.

Unclaimed rewards remain available until claimed.

What are Achievements?

Achievements are long-term goals that track progress across the full gameplay experience. Unlike Daily Tasks, Achievements are designed for long-term milestones rather than frequent resets.

They can track:

  • total raids completed
  • total energy generated
  • loot boxes opened
  • marketplace actions
  • progression milestones

Do Achievements have repeatable rewards?

Yes. The documentation states that after the final milestone reward is claimed, achievement progression continues. XP can keep accumulating, and reaching the next threshold grants another Legendary loot box, with each additional Legendary reward requiring more XP than the previous one.

Rewards and Economy

Loot Boxes, items, and trading

What are Loot Boxes?

Loot boxes are reward containers that drop customization items for a Typer. The documentation states that loot boxes can be earned through gameplay, opened inside the extension, and also purchased.

Each loot box grants exactly 1 item, and customization items are obtained only from loot boxes.

How can players get Loot Boxes?

Loot boxes can be obtained from:

  • raids
  • tasks and quests
  • invite milestones
  • achievement milestones
  • the in-game store

What loot box rarities exist?

The documentation lists five loot box rarity tiers:

  • Common
  • Uncommon
  • Rare
  • Epic
  • Legendary

Higher rarity loot boxes provide access to more unique and rare item pools.

What happens when a player opens a Loot box?

When a loot box is opened:

  • the loot box is consumed
  • 1 item is added to inventory
  • the item can be equipped on the Typer or listed on the marketplace

The documentation also states that loot box contents are randomized and may repeat.

What kinds of items come from Loot Boxes?

Items from loot boxes are used for Typer customization, including:

  • headwear
  • clothing
  • accessories
  • backgrounds

Some items belong to themed collections, and equipping a full set can unlock additional raid bonuses.

Is Peptype only a game, or does it include trading too?

Peptype also includes trading. The Getting Started page states that the ecosystem includes a marketplace where users can buy and sell items, with a 1% fee on completed sales.

Is Peptype designed as a long-term game?

Yes. The documentation structures progression around onboarding, daily tasks, achievements, raids, loot boxes, and trading, which together support both short-term and long-term retention.

It also explicitly describes Achievements as long-term milestones with repeatable Legendary rewards.
